Angela Barnes
Angela Barnes is a lifelong resident of Athens, Alabama, and brings over 38 years of experience in education, including roles as a principal, assistant principal, and reading instructional coach.
Throughout her career, she has led schools, improved student achievement, and built strong, collaborative school cultures focused on both academic success and student well-being. She has been recognized as Teacher of the Year and is known for supporting teachers, engaging families, and driving meaningful results in student learning.
As a mother of three and grandmother of eight, Angela understands the importance of creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel supported and families feel confident. At Little Roots Preschool, she is committed to helping every child grow with confidence and a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond.
Anita Weaver
Anita Weaver brings over 32 years of experience in education, working with students from preschool through high school in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, English Learner (EL) teacher, and reading intervention specialist.
Throughout her career, she has supported student growth across all levels, with a strong focus on literacy development and individualized instruction. She has been recognized as Teacher of the Year and is known for her dedication to meeting the needs of every learner while building positive, supportive classroom environments.
As a mother of two sons and grandmother of three, she understands the importance of creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident and families feel supported. At Little Roots Preschool, she is committed to helping each child build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Amanda Tucker
Amanda Tucker graduated from Athens State University in 2008 with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. She spent five years teaching at Elkmont Elementary School and Sugar Creek Elementary School, where she developed a passion for supporting students through engaging, student-centered learning environments.
She also served as an after-school program coordinator for two years at Piney Chapel Elementary School, helping create meaningful programs that supported both academic growth and positive student experiences outside the classroom.
As a mother of four, Amanda understands the importance of creating a safe, caring environment where children feel encouraged, supported, and excited to learn. At Little Roots Preschool, she is dedicated to helping every child build confidence and develop a strong foundation for future success.

- Program Hours: 8:00 AM β 12:00 PM
- Drop-Off Begins: 7:45 AM
- Pick-Up Begins: 11:40 AM

- Follows the Limestone County Schools calendar
- Snack provided daily; parents should notify staff of allergies
- Updated immunization record required before attendance

Arrival & Dismissal
Children are released only to authorized adults listed in the childβs file. Pickup changes must be updated through the office.
Positive Guidance
Acceptable behavior is encouraged through praise, positive reinforcement, and respectful redirection when needed.
What to Bring
Backpack, extra clothes, outdoor-appropriate clothing, and a non-spill water bottle with water only.
Emergency Care
Parents are contacted immediately in serious emergencies. A staff member remains with the child until a parent arrives.
